Publisher's Synopsis
Conrfucius (551-479 BC) - a great thinker, educationist, and founder of Confucianism - was born in Qufu of the State of Lu. The Analects of Confucius, or "Lunyu," records the words and deeds of Confucius as well as his disciples. The English text of The Analects of Confucius was mainly based on the translation compiled by Arthur Waley in 1938. In this edition, I have made a few of revisions. They include: (1) the names are converted into pinyin forms; and (2) a few of necessary notes and summaries are provided. In this book, I use three forms of written languages - Chinese characters, the Pinyin, and English. Each Chinese character is followed by its pinyin form (Chinese phonetic symbols). In this way, you can not only understand the meaning of the original text, you can also easily pronounce and read the Chinese text as well.
