Welcome to Chaosium's "Basic Roleplaying Quick-Start Edition," a booklet that collects the essential rules for "Basic Roleplaying" (BRP) and presents them in abbreviated form. This book comprises a basic framework of rules aimed at allowing players to enact a sort of improvisational radio theater -- only without microphones -- and with dice determining whe ther the characters succeed or fail at what they attempt to do. In roleplaying games, one player takes on the role of the gamemaster, while the other players assume the roles of player characters in the game; the heroes of the story. The system is remarkably friendly to newcomers. It is easy to describe the basics of the game system to non-gamers. From its origin, "Basic Roleplaying" was designed to be intuitive and easy to play.
